Voicemail from notifications

When opening the voicemail by clicking on notification on the home screen the dialer doesn't open and there is no way to open the dialer . Hitting the dialer makes the screen blink but the dialer doesnt open. i think this only happens if i have a diff call in progress before hitting the voicemail notification, not sure about that
